Erin McKeown

Erin McKeown doesn’t like labels or categories. But I think it’s safe to say she’s a muscian, a playwright, and an activist. She tours with the likes of Ani DiFranco, Josh Ritter, and the Indigo Girls. She’s a former fellow at Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society, where she worked to combined the worlds of policy, art, and technology. She’s deeply involved in social justice, and immigration issues. Her latest project is a musical she wrote, titled Miss You Like Hell and it’s playing at the Public Theater in New York City.

Debbie talks to Erin about the ups and downs in her career, and about writing a musical for the first time. “Not to be too dramatic about it, but it really saved me.”
