For 15 years, beginning in 1972, Richard Bernstein’s signature artwork graced the monthly covers of Interview magazine. His work so epitomized the pop art of the time, that many thought the covers were created by Andy Warhol. Bernstein also did covers for Time magazine, for albums by Grace Jones, stamp designs for the United Nations, and a portrait of Robert F. Kennedy for the Kennedy Library. In a new book from Rizzoli, Richard Bernstein Starmaker, Roger and Mauricio Padilha look back at his life and career. —The Editors
