On March 20, Design Observer launched a new initiative to create space for critical conversations, which have become even more necessary in this season of quarantine and social distancing. The Design Observer Studio Sessions continue our long-term commitment to hosting intimate and influential gatherings where we look together at the impact that design has on our lives and on the world around us.
Each week, Design Observer welcomes 100 members of the extended community to engage with two leading voices in design, business, culture and technology. The conversations are hosted by Design Observer co-founders, Jessica Helfand and Michael Bierut, and include lively Q+A from all attendees. (Participants have noted that the audience is often just as noteworthy as the guests.) Past sessions have included author Sara Hendren, Yale’s Dean of Architecture Deborah Berke, illustrator Christoph Niemann, Glitch's Anil Dash and many others.
On May 16, we welcome Mike Errico and Hrishikesh Hirway.
New York-based recording artist and writer Mike Errico has taught songwriting at Yale, Wesleyan, and NYU.
Hrishikesh Hirway is a musician and composer, and the host of the podcasts Song Exploder, Partners and The West Wing Weekly.
