Katherine Gehl + Michael Porter

Everyone knows that American politics are gridlocked and dysfunctional. Big problems are not getting solved and republicans blame democrats and democrats blame republicans. What if, instead of seeing this as a political problem, we looked at it as a design problem? What if we took a step back and asked: How can our elections work better? And how can we make laws that actually solve our problem? These are the questions that Katherine Gehl and Michael Porter tried to answer in their book The Politics Industry: How Political Innovation Can Break Partisan Gridlock and Save Our Democracy. Katherine Gehl is the former president and CEO of Gehl foods, who nw spends much of her time on political reform. Michael Porter is known as the father of modern business strategy and he’s an economist and professor at Harvard Business school.

Debbie talks to Katherine Gehl and Michael Porter about their program for redesigning our politics; “Everything we propose is not just powerful, it’s also achievable.”
